Fleetwood Town Football Club was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of our former player, Terry Uttley, at the age of 86. Terry passed away following a long illness, which he faced with great courage and dignity. He joined Fleetwood in the summer of 1959, having previously played at youth level for Preston North End.
What happened?
Terry made his debut for the club at inside right on 22 August 1959, featuring in a Lancashire Combination fixture away at Horwich RMI. During the 1959/60 season, he made 18 appearances for Fleetwood and scored three goals before leaving the club to join Lytham at the end of the campaign.
Why it matters for Fleetwood Town
Terry's connection with Fleetwood Town continued long after his playing days. He was an immensely proud member of the club's Former Players Association and a familiar face at Highbury, regularly attending home matches and supporting the Cods. His enduring affection for the club, along with his presence and friendship, meant a great deal to those who knew him.
