Fleetwood Town's pre-season match against Scunthorpe United has been extended to 120 minutes, giving the teams more playing time before the new season starts. The contest at the Scunthorpe United's home stadium has become a one-off "competitive fixture” involving two periods of 45 minutes and a final one of 30 minutes. Both clubs have agreed to the extra half-an-hour of play, giving them the chance to give more minutes to players as the new season looms. For the Spireites, this means a Carabao Cup and League Two double-header against Fleetwood Town. Latest signings Rafiq Lamptey and Fraser Bryden are expected to be involved tonight. Assistant manager Danny Webb said: “It’s not rocket science to recognise the players people think will play. “What I would say is that this year we have four or five positions where the opinions of supporters will differ. "It will be interesting to see what we decide to go with. We will certainly look at a lot of the names that people will expect to see on the team sheet as well as at Fleetwood away in the cup. "At the same time we want to win. Will it be the same (starting) team as for the home league fixture against Fleetwood? Maybe not.” The extended playing time offers more time to have a close look at the other eight newcomers and see how they integrate with the established , names, including the fit-again Ryan Stirk. Added Webb: "The whole point of trying to build a good squad is that you can move and rotate to suit everyone, especially us as staff. At the same time you don’t want to upset the rhythm of a good team. "It has been a decent pre-season and hopefully we can finish it off nicely with a good result at Scunthorpe.” Kick-off is 7.30pm. Next fixture: vs Tranmere (away, 2027-02-27) (11th in the table).
