Fleetwood Town were held to a 1-1 draw by Walsall at Highbury Stadium in a League Two encounter. Ronan Coughlan's 61st-minute opener was cancelled out eight minutes from time by Aaron Pressley's equaliser.
Matt Lawlor's side had aimed to build on their midweek EFL Trophy success. "The side will be looking to carry the momentum from Tuesday night’s 4-1 EFL Trophy victory over Barnsley into the league," the manager said before the match.
The point leaves Fleetwood Town 16th in the League Two table with 11 points from ten games. They are eight points behind early leaders Salford City, having won just two of their opening league fixtures.
Coughlan, who also scored in the 4-1 win over Barnsley, put the Cod Army ahead after an hour, finishing an assist from Lewis McCann. Walsall, who arrived unbeaten in the league under Lee Grant, found a response through Pressley, set up by Andrew Dallas.
Fleetwood's next fixture is a home match against Rotherham United on Saturday, 17 October. The team will be looking to improve on a league record that has seen them accumulate just 11 points from their opening ten games, with their goal difference currently standing at minus 2. Rotherham currently sit 20th in the table. Check the upcoming fixtures for full details.
