Fleetwood Town Manager Ponders Loan Moves
Manager Steven Schumacher has been impressed with young defensive duo Lewis Temple and Sam Inwood during pre-season training. Speaking to The Bolton News, Schumacher mentioned that there have been numerous phone calls from clubs interested in potential loan deals for the pair as the new season approaches.
Schumacher praised both players, stating: 'They've done well. Lewis Temple is someone we got in January and were really impressed with what we saw from the moment he walked through the door. He's settled into the group and handled himself really well. We don't want to block his pathway, so we'll see how it develops for him. He might be one who could potentially go out on loan, similar with Sam Inwood.'
Inwood, who spent last season on loan at Aldershot Town where he performed well, is eager to continue his development. 'The experience against Everton was good to get on the pitch there,' said Inwood. 'And the full 90 minutes at Fleetwood was a good way to keep up with the minutes. They're a good League Two side who know exactly how they want to play, and we did quite well.'
Inwood also highlighted his experience in the National League and playing for Northern Ireland's Under-21 team, saying: 'It was a great experience (at Aldershot), playing regular men's football in a competitive league. Sometimes playing against direct football, sometimes against sides like York and Rochdale who like to play. It was a great experience and I loved every minute.'
Pre-season Performance and Development
Both Temple and Inwood have featured prominently during pre-season matches, with Inwood noting the importance of regular first-team minutes: 'You can tell the step up in training with the players we've brought in, the step-up in fitness, everything has to go up another level now. I think it will do the group and myself only good.'
Inwood is also helping out Academy players making the transition to senior football, sharing his experiences from last year: 'It's nice to see,' he said. 'Obviously, I've been in their position, going through the Academy, their first insights into first-team football. I feel like I can help them in a way - even just little things like match day, how we prepare and stuff around the hotel.'
