Former Portsmouth striker Jordy Hiwula has joined the Professional Footballers' Association summer training camp at Champney's Springs this summer after a stint with Fleetwood Town. The ex‑Pompey forward, who scored eight goals in 15 appearances for Fratton Park during his 2020‑21 season, is hoping to revive his career and attract new club interest.

Hiwula, a product of Manchester City’s youth system, has played for Yeovil, Walsall, Huddersfield Town, Wigan Athletic, Bradford City, Fleetwood Town and Coventry City before arriving at Portsmouth in October 2020. He was signed on a free transfer by manager Kenny Jackett, but struggled to make an impact in the league, failing to score in any of his nine League One appearances under Jackett and Danny Cowley.

All three of Hiwula’s goals for Portsmouth came in cup competitions, and he was released in the major summer overhaul in 2021. He then spent three years in the lower leagues, scoring two league goals for Doncaster Rovers, Ross County and Morecambe, before a 13‑month period without a club.

In August 2025 he joined Boston United, where he enjoyed his best goal‑scoring campaign in seven seasons, before leaving the club in May 2026.

The 10‑week programme at Champney’s Springs in Leicestershire, now in its third year, offers spa and gym facilities, strength and conditioning sessions, training and weekly matches against EFL opposition. Hiwula has signed up for the camp for the second time, having participated in the 2025 programme after a year‑long absence.

He will be training alongside former Pompey quartet Tom McIntyre, Anthony Scully, Omar Bogle, Andre Green and Arvin Appiah. The camp has also seen ex‑Fratton Park players Tyler Walker, Ben Close, John Marquis, James Bolton, Lee Evans and Josh Oluwayemi.

Hiwula’s goal‑scoring record at Portsmouth-three goals in cup competitions and eight in all competitions-remains a highlight of his career. He is now looking to keep his fitness up and attract clubs after his National League exit earlier this summer, hoping to revive his career.

The Professional Footballers' Association camp is designed to give out‑of‑contract players the opportunity to showcase their abilities to potential suitors, and Hiwula’s participation underscores his determination to secure a new contract.

The programme will run for 10 weeks, with weekly matches against EFL opposition, providing a platform for Hiwula and his fellow ex‑Pompey players to impress scouts and coaches.
